Memorial Day Weekend

We finally got back up to the mountains for Memorial Day weekend. We haven't been up there since last July, and we were very excited to finally get back there. Eli always talks about the "cabin" and couldn't wait to celebrate his birthday there. This time, we took some of our good friends with us too.

While traveling with 4 kids 3 and under adds a bit of stress to any trip, overall we had a blast and are so glad that we went. Eli & Maddie did really well on both car rides, each upwards of 5 hours long. And, they loved our stay even though it was chilly and wet pretty much the whole time we were there.

A quick recap of our weekend through pictures...

One of the kids' favorite things was bathtime each night because they all got to take a bath together in the big footed tub. They had a blast pouring water all over each other. :)

We all went on a "hike" the next day and used the binoculars to look for elk. Maddie's favorite thing was pointing out all of the elk poop along the path! In the evening, we were able to watch a whole family of deer out the window. The little ones were playing and running around in the backyard.

Even though it wasn't quite Eli's birthday yet, we had a cake for him and celebrated his birthday one night since he really wanted to have his birthday at the cabin. We also gave him his big present...a new bike! Since there were so many hills out there, he got going a bit too fast, but he loves his new bike, helmet, and the bell too.

We took a day trip out to Crested Butte and ended up playing on the swings at a big park. It was so cold and rainy, that we had to seek shelter inside a community building to eat our lunch, but that didn't stop the kids from having a great time.

Our last evening there, it finally dried out enough for us to have a campfire. It was a lot of fun and all the kids (and adults) took turns roasting their own marshmallows. Smores by the campfire, that was my favorite memory from the trip.
